Apple TV now supports Netflix’s cheaper advertising package.

Netflix told The publication that Apple TV set-top devices support its ad-supported tier. The $6.99-per-month “Basic with Advertising” option was unavailable on Apple TV when it was released in November. Netflix assured 9to5Mac that Apple TV would accept commercials later, and now it does.

Netflix for Apple TV version 2.3.0 is required to enjoy ad-supported content. When the plan started, I tested it on my laptop, and it was like Netflix with advertising. I prefer the no-advertising options. However, the advertisements tier can save you money.

Netflix Basic with Advertising was released in November without compatibility with earlier Chromecasts. However, a Netflix support document no longer mentions that. I asked Netflix if Chromecasts support the tier, as I don’t have one. Additionally, PlayStation 3 and Netflix’s Windows app don’t allow advertisements.
