A week after launching in the U.S., OpenAI has made its ChatGPT iOS app available in India and 32 additional countries.

Algeria, Argentina, Azerbaijan, Bolivia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Costa Rica, Ecuador, Estonia, Ghana, India, Iraq, Israel, Japan, Jordan, Kazakhstan, Kuwait, Lebanon, Lithuania, Mauritania, Mauritius, Mexico, Morocco, Namibia, Nauru, Oman, Pakistan, Peru, Poland, Qatar, Slovenia, Tunisia, and the United Arab Emirates were added.

After the U.S., OpenAI introduced ChatGPT to 11 more countries this week. France, Germany, Ireland, New Zealand, Nigeria, South Korea, and the U.K.

According to data.ai, the ChatGPT mobile app has reached half a million downloads in six days since its U.S. launch last Thursday (May 18). One of the best new apps. According to data.ai, the app has more downloads than rival AI and chatbot apps, Microsoft Edge and Bing, in the U.S.

The free, ad-free ChatGPT app enables iPhone users to talk with the generative AI-based chatbot. ChatGPT Plus users can use GPT-4 to access additional capabilities and leverage OpenAI Whisper for voice input. The iOS software lets users subscribe to ChatGPT Plus, which costs $20 monthly in the U.S.

OpenAI’s ChatGPT app is iOS-only. However, the startup, sponsored by Microsoft and Tiger Global and a16z, also hopes to release an Android version soon.

OpenAI CEO Sam Altman travels to many nations to speak with global authorities and understand their AI concerns as the ChatGPT app expands. The executive met with European leaders this week. He visits India early next month.
