Cisco Systems (CSCO.O) unveiled AI supercomputer networking chips Tuesday to compete with Broadcom (AVGO.O) and Marvell Technology (MRVL.O).

Cisco said five of the six major cloud providers are testing SiliconOne chips. Bofa Global Research says Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud dominate cloud computing.
The popularity of AI apps like ChatGPT, which uses a GPU network, has increased the pace at which this end.

Cisco said the chips could perform AI and machine learning activities with 40% fewer switches, less lag, and less power.

Broadcom introduced the Jericho3-AI processor in April, which can link 32,000 GPU devices. Individual chips are crucial.

Cisco manufactures ethernet switches, which connect computers, laptops, routers, servers, and printers to a local area network.

The G200 and G202 ethernet switches, which can link up to 32,000 GPUs, have double the performance of the previous version.

“G200 & G202 are going to be the most powerful networking chips in the market fueling AI/ML workloads enabling the most power-efficient network,” Cisco fellow and former lead engineer Rakesh Chopra said.
