Google search results will have a “Perspectives” carousel.

Google is introducing a carousel to search results to show diverse viewpoints. “Perspectives,” a new box under “Top Stories,” will include “insights from a spectrum of journalists, experts, and other important voices.”

For Oscar’s views, the business posted a GIF of the package. Mark Hamill and Jamie Lee Curtis’s tweets and articles are included. It’s fine, but I hate that it will clog Google’s search results. (I may be nostalgic.)

This opinion isn’t offensive. Yet it’s easy to envision how this could expose the same unpopular viewpoints and false claims we see on Twitter daily. So we’ve asked Google to explain how it chooses what to show in the box.

Google said the Perspectives carousel would appear “soon” in English on US desktops and mobile. More search updates are coming from the firm. “About this author” will appear in the “About this result” box when you click the three dots next to a link. “About this result” will be expanded to “all languages where Search is available” in the coming days.
