According to a story published on Friday by the Verge, which cited a source, Microsoft (MSFT.O) is planning to finalize its acquisition of “Call of Duty” developer Activision Blizzard (ATVI.O) on October 13, assuming it receives clearance from Britain’s antitrust authority. The deal is valued at $69 billion.
The Xbox manufacturer decided in July to push back the deadline for the agreement to October 18 in order to give itself additional time to receive permission from the UK.
Both Microsoft and Activision did not react to a request for comment made by Reuters. Microsoft declined to comment. Activision did not answer.
After Activision agreed to sell its streaming rights to Ubisoft Entertainment (UBIP.PA), Microsoft received preliminary permission from the Competition and Markets Authority last month.
If the transaction is completed, it would be the largest acquisition in the history of the gaming business. It will combine Microsoft’s dominance in the home console market with Activision’s portfolio of games, which includes “World of Warcraft” and “Call of Duty.”
