Netflix may let iPhones control TV games.

According to Bloomberg and code posted by MacRumors contributor Steve Moser, Netflix is developing a feature that lets you use your iPhone to control TV games. Netflix wants its games to be “playable on every Netflix device that you have,” and iPhones can play TV games.

“A game on your TV needs a controller to play,” Moser claims the iOS software states. So is this phone a game controller?

Netflix debuted its mobile gaming service in late 2021, and just this month, it announced 55 titles and 40 more for this year. However, such games are only playable on iOS and Android smartphones, not Televisions or PCs.

Netflix may avoid needing to produce a specialized gaming controller as Google did for its now-defunct Stadia service by using your phone as a controller. Netflix said this month that work on a cloud gaming service is “underway” after initially “seriously examining” it in 2022. As a result, you may use your phone to operate cloud games from that service.

Netflix spokesman Chrissy Kelleher denied comment.
