Based on the WB calendar, it is clear that the major WB films, like The Batman, The Flash, and Shazam 2 won’t come out until 2022.

This isn’t much of a surprise as we have seen one blockbuster after another pushed into 2021. Moreover, Yesterday we came to know that WB will push Dune into 2021 but that was only the beginning. WB has rescheduled The Batman to March 2022. The Flash, which features Justice League’s Ben Affleck and Ezra Miller, has also moved to November 2022.

Dwyane Johnson’s movie Black Adam which was set to release in December 2021, now has no release date at all. The same has happened with Minecraft. Now, the two movies aren’t on the calendar of WB films. The company hasn’t canceled the two movies, however, it’s unclear whether animation and filming would also be delayed.

Moreover, Shazam, Fury of the Gods, WB’s tentpole superhero film were set to release in November 2022. However, now they have moved to June 2023, which seems very far right now. The only positive thing from the schedule is that Wonder Woman is clinging to its December 2020 release date. Moreover, the Matrix has moved from April 2022 to December 2021. However, the movie won’t have one of the main characters, Morpheus played by Lawrence Fishbourne.

One of the main reasons that WB has postponed its films is due to the closing of theatres. Many other film studios also fled the 2020 schedule, so theaters have struggled due to the low audience turnout and the health regulation rules in certain States.

Yesterday, Regal theatres announced that it will close all of its businesses until further notice. On the other hand, AMC and Cinemark will remain open despite no major movie release.

It’s clear now that WB has abandoned both 2021 and 2022. However, Marvel’s recent delays have put movies, like Shang-Chi, The Eternals, and Black Widow all in 2021 slots. If there is a film-going resurgence in 2021, Disney and Marvel Studios will win with no competition from DC or WB films.
