After Netflix’s password-sharing crackdown on May 23, Antenna found that daily U.S. sign-ups increased. The news lifted firm shares 2.3% to $418.92 in early trading.

Netflix previously tweeted, “Love is sharing a password,” regulated account password sharing with friends and family in a saturated market and bad economy.

Netflix reported that over 100 million households have shared their log-in information. U.S. consumers can now add a non-household member for $8 per month.

Antenna reported approximately 100,000 daily sign-ups on May 26 and 27, proving its calculations correct.

Netflix did not immediately respond to Reuters’ request for comment.
The streaming video pioneer had its four biggest days of U.S. customer acquisition after the transition in the 4-1/2 years Antenna has covered the company.

According to Antenna, which uses third-party data collectors to capture online transaction receipts, credit, debit, and banking data with authorization, the recent rise eclipsed levels witnessed during the initial U.S. COVID-19 lockdowns in March and April 2020.
