Mark Zuckerberg announced on Tuesday that Meta Platforms’ (META.O) WhatsApp Business app now serves over 200 million users, a four-fold increase from three years ago.

Meta focuses on business messaging as an uncertain economy slows its core advertising business.

Meta said it would soon test capabilities that allow small businesses to run advertisements that link to the messaging platform without a Facebook account.

For a charge, small and medium enterprises might send customers customized Christmas sale information and appointment reminders.

Meta has started monetizing WhatsApp and Messenger as CEO Zuckerberg sees business messaging as the company’s next pillar.
