For his artificial intelligence business, xAI, Elon Musk is attempting to fund one-fourth of Twitter. Put another way, the individual responsible for Tesla, SpaceX, and X wants to raise one billion dollars for his new endeavor.
Musk has reportedly raised around $135 million from four investors who have not been identified, with the initial sale taking place on November 29. This information comes from a filing with the SEC. This indicates that he still has around $865 million to go until he reaches his target of $1 billion.
Grok, which is Musk’s response to OpenAI’s ChatGPT, Google’s Bard, or Anthropic’s Claude, is the project that xAI has been working on up until now. Grok will have a “rebellious streak” and respond to “spicy” queries, which other AI bots do not interact with, according to the company’s website.
However, according to reports, the product will soon be available to X Premium+ users in beta form. The project has just been in development for two months.
Another significant aspect that sets the bot apart from others is that it intends to update with real-time information uploaded on X. However, for this feature to differentiate Grok from its rivals, it must be intelligent enough to differentiate between genuine news on X and false information.
Even though Musk was a co-founder of OpenAI, he resigned from the board of directors in 2018. In recent times, Musk has been critical of OpenAI, particularly when the company sacked and rehired CEO Sam Altman in November, which caused widespread uncertainty and anxiety within the artificial intelligence field.
The raising of an additional $865 million is not an easy task. Still, as one of the most influential persons in the technology industry, Musk is certainly up to the effort… provided that potential investors have not been dissuaded from investing in X due to his (mis)management of the company.
