The Italian Industry Ministry said Friday’s “heavy cyberattack” took down its web portal and applications.

A statement said technicians were attempting to “mitigate the consequences” of the incident and that initial assessments found no data theft.

It claimed it was too early to estimate when activities would resume. Instead, the onslaught started early in the morning.

The ministry said it was working with the National Cybersecurity Agency to minimize disruptions for citizens and companies.
