Logitech is launching its cloud-gaming handheld console in Europe. Logitech G Cloud software updates continue after this release.
The Logitech G Cloud will cost €359 or £329 in the U.K., Germany, France, Italy, Spain, Norway, Denmark, Sweden, and Finland from May 22 to June 22. It generally sells for $299 in the US but costs $349.
Europeans get up to six months of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate (with Xbox Cloud Gaming), one month of Nvidia GeForce Now (Priority subscription tier), and one month of Shadow PC.
In September 2022, Logitech introduced the Logitech G Cloud, a $350 portable Android console. Unfortunately, the $299 Switch can’t play Zelda. PC games aren’t portable like the $399 Steam Deck.
The gadget’s name is the answer. Logitech G Cloud is built for cloud gaming. Nvidia GeForce Now and Xbox Cloud Gaming are pre-installed. However, Logitech states on its website that its console “requires a cloud subscription service sold separately to work as intended.”
Remotely play with the Logitech G Cloud. Use your Xbox or PlayStation as a second screen to play outside the living room. It can also stream gaming PC games.
Gamepad controls surround the touchscreen on the Logitech G Cloud. It has enough computational power for cloud gaming services but nothing more.
The Logitech G Cloud lacks an APU, a lot of storage, and a fan. Instead, you get a great 1080p 7-inch display, a microSD card slot, a USB-C connector, a 3.5mm headphone jack, speakers, microphones, and all the buttons a modern controller should have.
The Logitech G Cloud has a mid-range Qualcomm system on a chip (the Snapdragon 720G), 4GB of RAM, 64GB of storage, Bluetooth 5.1, and WiFi 5 support—WiFi 6 would have been good.
The Logitech G Cloud, which I reviewed in October, is my favorite gaming controller. I especially liked the Logitech G Cloud with Shadow PC, a cloud computing service that allows you to use a high-end PC at a nearby data center.
Install any Steam game and play it smoothly on the couch with this setup. Logitech G Cloud weighs 463g, 30% less than Steam Deck. It’s calm. The best part is that the distant server handles all intensive computer operations. Therefore battery life isn’t an issue.
In recent months, Logitech has released software upgrades with additional capabilities like virtual button mapping for touch-based mobile games, sensitivity and dead zone adjustment for analog sticks and L2/R2 triggers, and official support for Shadow PC.
Shadow PC will be pre-installed on the Logitech G Cloud soon, and Shadow supports the built-in controller.
Again, not everyone likes the Logitech G Cloud. Cloud gamers or those seeking a 7-inch cloud gaming device would like it. Nevertheless, Logitech G Cloud suits a niche market effectively. Now more can buy one.
