Mastodon, a German rival with a decentralized, user-driven structure, is witnessing more activity after Twitter’s new post limits.

Over the past day, Mastodon’s active user base increased by 110K. “Not bad,” wrote Mastodon founder and CEO Eugen Rochko late Sunday.

During the week, Elon Musk should dismantle his site. “It’s happened before,” wrote Rochko.

On Saturday, Twitter CEO Elon Musk established daily post-reading limits. OpenAI, ChatGPT’s owner, used Twitter data to build their huge language models, which he condemned.

In October 2022, Musk bought Twitter. His unsteady administration has driven users and marketers away since then.

Mastodon is installed on thousands of servers and managed by a federation of volunteers. It resembles Twitter.
