Today, WhatsApp released message editing, a long-awaited feature.

Mark Zuckerberg posted that users can edit messages within 15 minutes of sending them. To edit a message, long-press, and tap edit. Edited messages will be marked “edited” next to the time stamp. Unfortunately, the app won’t save corrections.

“We’re excited that you’ll have more control over your chats, like correcting misspellings or adding context. In a blog post, the business explained that users must tap and hold the message for 15 minutes and then pick “Edit” from the menu.

Users previously had to delete or resend messages. However, the messaging software extended the message deletion restriction from 48 to 60 hours last year.

Telegram and Signal have always allowed message editing, unlike WhatsApp. Twitter gave premium users the edit button last year. The Meta-owned app’s message modification window is shorter than Telegram’s 48 hours, but it’s better than nothing.

The editing option lets me fix typos without sending another message and confusing the recipient.
Meta said the feature is rolling out and will be available to everyone in a few weeks.
