Netflix told The publication that Apple TV set-top devices support its ad-supported tier. The $6.99-per-month “Basic with Advertising” option was unavailable on Apple TV when it was released in November. Netflix assured 9to5Mac that Apple TV would accept commercials later, and now it does.

Netflix Basic with Advertising was released in November without compatibility with earlier Chromecasts. However, a Netflix support document no longer mentions that.
