The Arms Corporation (Arm) is a Cambridge, England-based semiconductor and software design firm. This company’s bread and butter is the creation of ARM central processing units (CPUs). It also offers software development tools, including DS-5, RealView, and Keil, systems and platforms, system-on-a-chip (SoC) architecture, and software design for various chips. The corporation is a “holding” company that owns stock in other businesses. Since 2016, the Japanese conglomerate SoftBank Group has controlled the company.
It was announced on Thursday that Vice Minister of Science and Technology Zhang Guangjun had urged British chip technology firm Arm, owned by Softbank, to expand its collaboration with Chinese research institutions, schools, and businesses.
Zhang met with Arm CEO Rene Haas on Tuesday in Beijing, and he stated that the company has a lot of room to grow in the Chinese market and that the ministry will keep helping out high-tech businesses.
