Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor has seen increasing popularity amongst consumers for a variety of reasons. Being a role-playing game, Shadow of Mordor gives users the freedom to enjoy the vast world and lore of The Lord of the Rings, while giving the user the feeling of accomplishment while playing the game. The free-flowing combat system, coupled with the open-world environment, allowed Monolith Productions to create an attractive game that makes gamers want to keep playing.
Recently, the sequel to Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor has been rumored to be releasing later this year, even though it was known that the game was in development amongst the community. The sequel was leaked through a listing on Target’s international website, through which we have learned that it will be named Middle-Earth: Shadow of War. The game also came with a description that gives a very good idea on what the game will be based on: “Go behind enemy lines to forge your army, conquer Fortresses, and dominate Mordor from within,” Experience how the award-winning Nemesis System creates unique personal stories with every enemy and follower, and confront the full power of the Dark Lord Sauron and his Ringwraiths in this epic new story of Middle-earth.”
The website included PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game. Although the original Shadow of Mordor was on PC and its sequel was not included on Target’s website, PC will not necessarily be excluded from Shadow of War as development is still going on.
The website also indicated that Shadow of War will be released on August 22. Although this can be true, most early release dates set by retailers’ websites do not always end up being true. The only way to truly know when the release date is, is through an official announcement by Monolith Productions.
Shadow of War will also come in a Gold Edition along with the standard version of the game. Based on the description of the international Target website, the Gold Edition will include:
- Slaughter Tribe Nemesis Expansion
- Outlaw Tribe Nemesis Expansion
- The Blade of Galadriel Story Expansion
- The Desolation of Mordor Story Expansion
- Gold War Chest
- Over $125 in total value
Descriptions for each individual expansion were also included on the Target website. The two Nemesis expansions will feature “a new Orc Tribe featuring new enemies, followers, missions, abilities, weapons, Fortress, and wilderness updates, and a Mythic Gear Set.” The story expansions, meanwhile, have “a new campaign, playable character, and abilities, side missions, enemies, allies, and more.”
Many gamers are excited for the release of this game, and after this rather large leak, this excitement is justified. Now the only thing that gamers are waiting for is that whether or not Shadow of War will actually release by or close to August 22nd.
