Looking for a brand-new gaming keyboard without breaking the bank? Maybe even without denting the bank? Want to leave the tiniest scratch on the bank as humanly possible? We’ve got just the deal for you.
For a limited time, Amazon is offering its Amazon Basics gaming keyboard for the low, low price of just $15! While this keyboard is usually on sale for a very affordable $35 default pricing, this deal is still one you won’t want to skip out on if you’re looking for a new keyboard.
Heck, you don’t even have to be looking for a gaming keyboard to take advantage of this offer. $15 is a really good price for any keyboard, let along a sweet black mechanical one with RGB backlit keys.
Customize keyboard lighting from a spectrum of 16.8 million colors; easily switch across 3 color profiles for increased visibility; software included (CD or download) for customizing light effects
Despite its low price point, the keyboard is backed with built-to-last parts, that, according to the Amazon page, can withstand up to 10 million keystrokes each. It also comes with a Windows Lock Switch to toggle off the Windows and Context Menu keys that can cause you to accidentally de-focus your screen in the middle of a gaming session if you misclick.
If you’re extra worried about buying a keyboard for $15, the product comes with a full one-year limited warranty to set your worries at ease.
The board is also backed by solid customer data, holding the #1 Slot for Amazon gaming keyboards, and coming in with a solid four star average after sixty-five customer reviews.
The top reviewers who have spoken about the product are eager to sing its praises. Top reviewer Cody calls it a “Versatile Keyboard for Gaming and Everyday Use,” and was pleased with the board’s weighty clicks, sturdy construction, non-chip paint, and appealing design. He does, however, admit that it doesn’t hold up to a “true” mechanical board similar to one that might be sold by more exclusive gaming companies, but given the fact that this keyboard is one quarter the price of some of the most basic options for advanced gaming keyboards, we think that’s a fair trade.
Speaking of cheap… despite the many advantages to this keyboard, it is by no means the perfect product. A number of reviews who gave two or three star reviews cited the product’s key getting stuck a few days after arrival, but most say that they were able to redeem the warranty immediately, and that the board that came back with the warranty lasted them a good while. In addition, while it’s true that the keys do allow for RGB support, they do not allow their colors to be individually set; All the keys must be the same color.
Also, if the reviews are anything to believed, don’t purchase the “mouse” variant of this set. The keyboard may be solid if somewhat low quality, but according to the reviews, the mouse does NOT hold up to gaming standards whatsoever due to being quite tail-heavy, a bit weighty overall, and having an exceptionally low DPI. You have been warned, proceed at your own risk.
If you came to this deal looking for a top of the line gaming keyboard for under $20, we’ve got some bad news for you: This isn’t the droid you’re looking for. But if you were looking for a decent, budget keyboard that can handle an above-average level of wear and tear for what still comes out to be an exceptionally low price, we think you’ll find yourself liking the AmazonBasics Keyboard quite a bit. But act fast – we don’t know how long this deal will stick around.
