As global market circumstances worsen, the Microsoft-owned developer platform GitHub has laid off almost its entire technical crew in India.

A source stated the development business cut around 100 South Asian staff. Tuesday was GitHub’s job layoff announcement. Former software developer Gergely Orosz, who publishes Pragmatic Engineer, initially disclosed the employment layoffs.

GitHub informed whizord that the layoff was part of its February streamlining exercise. GitHub planned to reduce 10% of its personnel by the March quarter.

“As part of the reorganization plan shared in February, workforce reductions were made today as part of difficult but necessary decisions and realignments to protect our business in the short term and grant us the capacity to invest in our long-term strategy moving forward,” the spokesperson said.

India is a major developer market and engineering center for many multinational organizations.
