Many tech trends have come and gone during the previous years. There are many tech trends that we would like to come back in 2020, for example, surveillance tech, Windows Flipping Updates, and streaming service exclusives.

Here we have prepared a list of the top tech trends that need to die in 2020.

  1. Style over Substance:

During the previous decade, Apple’s products had terrific designs. Most of their products didn’t have amazing features, but they looked good. For example, the MacBook Pro looked brilliant at the outset; however, it couldn’t handle people typing. The MacBook had a single USB port so that you couldn’t charge and use an external device at the same time. Moreover, the iPhone headphone jack had its fair share of problems.

The good news is that Apple has realized this mistake, and the 15-inch MacBook Pro has a proper keyboard. So, regardless of the brand name, we want the ‘style over substance’ trend to die in 2020.

2. Launching tech that doesn’t work:

In 2020, the trend of launching a faulty product should end. For example, Samsung rushed the Samsung Galaxy Fold launch but forgot to ensure whether Samsung Galaxy Fold could handle being folded and unfolded. This is just like a parachute company forgetting to check whether the parachute works or not. Apple also recently canceled its battery charger AirPower, because it wasn’t up to the market standards.

The best advice that we can give to tech companies in this scenario is not to launch faulty products. Moreover, the companies should stop announcing the products that they can’t make.

3. Subscription for Everything:

One of the common tech trends right now is subscriptions. From TV to movies to gaming to wireless security, there is a subscription for everything. Some companies also offer a 7-day free trial of their services, and you can stop the services after seven days. However, if you forget to cancel the service, you immediately get charged for the first month without warning.

Most people don’t pay for stuff, even if the price is reasonable. That’s why companies have introduced free trials for their services. However, we think that the trend of subscription for everything needs to end.

4. Electric scooters:

Electric scooters are illegal in the U.K.; however, they are present in the U.S. They have become a huge curse in the U.S., blocking sidewalks and creating issues for the local authorities and pedestrians.

The main problem with dockless electric scooters isn’t the tech or that the drivers are awful. The problem is that the companies behind them are quite irresponsible. The operator appears out of thin air without a license. After that, they produce the product in mass quantity and expect the council to clean their mess. Scooters are better for the environment than cars.

5. Facebook Portal:

You might be thinking to yourself that what could go wrong with a Facebook-connected camera in your home?

Facebook has been involved in several privacy scandals. However, we haven’t heard anyone from the upper tier of Facebook apologize for these privacy problems. Although Facebook promises not to listen to anyone’s conversations, it is far from the truth. The company even records and monetizes your location data even when you don’t share the location.

Facebook analyses and monetizes Portal video and audio. However, we would like Facebook Portals to end in 2020.
