Nintendo E3 Spotlight Wrap-Up

Nintendo’s Spotlight at E3 was broadcasted live today and was filled with surprises, announcements, and trailers that have Nintendo fans on edge with anticipation for the new games set to be released. The spotlight revealed multiple upcoming titles for the Nintendo Switch and even a few for the Nintendo 3DS/2DS The upcoming lineup revealed from the E3 spotlight were, Xenoblade Chronicles 2, Fire Emblem Warriors, Rocket League, Metroid Prime 4, a new Yoshi game (2018), and a new Kirby game (2018)! The spotlight also showcased new trailers and gameplay for the upcoming Super Mario Odyssey game as well as a release date of October 27th, 2017 for the upcoming Nintendo Switch game.

The trailers showcased our favorite Italian-American plumber using his new sentient hat, Cappy, to make his way across New Donk City and other areas possessing many different objects such as plants, Goombas, and even a T-Rex by throwing Cappy at them. There was also an announcement for new Zelda: Breath of The Wild Master Trials DLC set to be released on June 30th of this year, the trailer for the DLC shows the gameplay from the Trial of the Sword, the new Master Mode difficulty, and new armor, weapons, and even Majora’s Mask.

However, one of the biggest announcements came from The Pokémon Company, in addition to showcasing more gameplay for it’s upcoming game Pokken Tournament DX (which will be having its own tournament during a special Nintendo Treehouse live on June 14th) Pokémon President and CEO Tsunekazu Ishihara announced that a core Pokémon RPG game is in development for the Nintendo Switch! Though Ishihara stated that the game might not be released for more than a year, fans are still in an uproar of excitement over this amazing news!

For those who watched the Nintendo Treehouse live stream after the spotlight Nintendo showcased two surprise games coming to the Nintendo 3DS/2DS, the first game is Metroid: Samus Returns set to be released on September 15th 2017, the game is a re-imagined reboot of the original Metroid II: Return of Samus for the Gameboy handheld system and the second surprise game coming to the Nintendo DS is the reimagining of a classic Gameboy Advance game, Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga. The game will now be called Mario & Luigi Superstar Saga + Bowser’s Minions, in the game players will be venturing to the BeanBean Kingdom in order to retrieve Princess Peach’s voice from the evil Cackletta, players will be able to play as both Mario & Luigi and be aided by the wicked Bowser and be able to perform combo attacks with Mario & Luigi. The new 3DS/2DS version of the game will offer players a new side story mode not seen in the original hence the Bowser’s Minions portion of the title where players will be able to play as Captain Goomba and the rest of to Bowser’s minions, in order to locate and aid their missing leader, in the game players, will be able to form an army of battalions made up of Bowser’s underlings and take them into battle against the forces of the bean kingdom.

The game is set to release on October 6th of this year on the Nintendo 3DS/2DS. Alongside the actual games themselves, new amiibos will be released for Zelda: Breath of The Wild, Fire Emblem Warriors, Super Mario Odyssey, and Metroid: Samus Returns. It was mentioned that certain amiibos will have an effect on the games themselves but Nintendo is choosing to keep exactly what that effect will be a secret until the game’s release. The live stream also showcased gameplay for most of the upcoming games mentioned prior as well as Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle, and Arms. Nintendo showcased an incredible amount upcoming games for their systems during their spotlight today that have fans everywhere buzzing with anticipation about the upcoming releases. Nintendo will be hosting Pokken Tournament invitational tournament and an Arms tournament invitational on June 14th at 10:30 AM PT/ 1:30 ET (Pokken Tournament DX) and 3:30 PM/6:30 PM ET (Arms) during a special edition of Nintendo Treehouse Live on their Nintendo YouTube channel.
