Something seems to have gone wrong with Sony’s most recently posted YouTube video, as Sony recently posted a video showing BioWare’s upcoming video game Anthem, however, the video was removed due to the video showing Xbox One controls rather than PS4.
Users from the video game forum NeoGAF suspect that the footage may be from the Xbox One X version trailer shown this year at E3, during different points in the video viewers can see that PlayStation 4 buttons were photoshopped over the Xbox One X controls. The video has since been taken down and Sony has not responded since, but Microsoft seems to be enjoying this embarrassing moment for Sony as Xbox marketing manager Aaron Greenberg seems be especially enjoying this moment as he recently tweeted “Oops!” with a laughing face emoji and a link to a Forbes article covering the incident.
This is not the first time Xbox and Sony accounts have shown the same footage for a video game, however, the trailer Sony showed is from the E3 presentation for the Xbox One X exclusively and due to the Xbox One X being more powerful than the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 4 Pro the quality, and other aspects of the footage may not represent the same as the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 4 Pro.
At the moment has not given any word as to if or when another trailer for PS4 will be posted, and seems to want to sweep it under the rug. Anthem is a game created by the BioWare the same company that brought Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic in 2003, Anthem is a new sci-fi game, action RPG game set in an open world where players are able to play as Freelancers who travel to and explore unknown planets and protect humanity. Players will be able to craft, acquire, and customize their Freelancer and their exo-suits known as Javelins. The game will focus on cooperative play with up to four players to complete various missions given when exploring each world. The game is set to release during Fall 2018 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC players and for those playing on Xbox One X the game will run in 4K gaming and feature other enhancements and possibly exclusive content. Currently, there is no PlayStation 4 trailer but the Xbox One trailer from E3 is still up so gamers can still get a sense as to what the game will be like. Happy gaming!
