In the United States, Kobo today introduced its Kobo Plus membership tier. Users of the plan, which costs $7.99 per month, can access 1.3 million books from Kobo’s collection (but not all of them).

This new subscription will go up against Amazon’s $9.99/month Kindle Unlimited package. Via its $119/year Prime membership, Amazon also provides a Prime Reading plan with a limited selection.

Three tiers make up the Kobo Plus program. With Kobo Plus Read, you may read unlimited books, and with Kobo Plus Listen, you can listen to more than 100,000 audiobooks. Both services cost $7.99 per month.

You must pay $9.99 per month if you want access to both books and audiobooks. You may then access books on all Kobo devices and the Kobo app.

Importantly, the company’s iOS, Android, and PC apps enable you to read or listen to books offline.

The Netherlands, Belgium, Italy, France, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand previously offered Kobo Plus.

The Rakuten-owned business introduced the Kobo Elipsa 2E e-reader and the new subscription plan. It costs $399.99 and comes with a 10.3-inch, glare-free e-ink touchscreen. In addition, the gadget has 32GB of internal storage, “weeks-long” battery life, and Bluetooth audiobook listening.
