NEC, a brand controlled by Lenovo, has introduced its new VersaPro UltraLite type VG notebooks that is aimed at people who want long battery life and extreme portability.
However, the laptops won’t compromise on the quality. Initially, they will be available in Japan, however, they will make their way to the U.S. later this year.
The NEC notebook has a 13.33-inch full HD display. Moreover, it comes with a chassis made from magnesium alloy to lessen the weight. However, it has a rigid design and can easily survive everyday usage.
NEC is planning to introduce two base models of the notebook. The first version weighs 814g and comes with an L-battery that allows up to 15-hour battery life. The other one weighs 868 grams. It also contains a LL battery that can power the laptop for up to 24 hours. However, its battery life is still less than the Microsoft Surface Laptop 3, which lasts up to three working days.
The NEC new VersaPro UltraLite type VG notebooks are based on Intel’s quad-core Core i5-10210U and Core i7-10510U, with a 16GB of LPDDR3 RAM as well as 128GB, 256 GB, and 512 GB SSD.
Regarding connectivity, the new notebooks contain Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth, USB Type-A and USB Type-C ports, an HDMI output, and a micros card slot. Moreover, the advanced version of the laptop comes with an integrated 4G/LTE modem.
An interesting aspect of the notebooks is that the company has fitted Yamaha’s audio engine tuning to ensure the conference calls without the noise of fans or air conditioners.
Regarding the biometric verification, the laptop will have a fingerprint reader and a webcam which supports Windows Hellow face recognition.
NEC is going to start the sales of its notebooks from 24 August in Japan. The cheapest model costs around $1792 without any taxes. On the other hand, the most expensive one costs around $3,254 without any taxes. However, considering the fact that these laptops have amazing battery life and performance, their high price seems justified.
