Uncharted: The Lost Legacy Teased Before August Release

Uncharted: The Lost Legacy‘s story trailer was shown during PlayStation’s E3 press conference. Before E3, a cinematic scene for the game named “River Revelation” was made available online in April on the PlayStation official YouTube channel.

The E3 story trailer introduces our characters Chloe and Nadine, as they travel through dangerous ruins filled with booby traps in order to find a treasure called the Tusk of Ganesh. Chloe is a thief and offers to help out the main antagonist named Asav to find the tusk for a large sum of money. When he refuses, Chloe knocks over a table with a candle and sets fire to the room. Chloe and Nadine must rely on each other to make it safely across the jungle without falling to their deaths or being killed by the main antagonist’s henchmen.

“In December we said that we’re approaching this project as a true Uncharted game — complete with its own deep narrative with complex character development, all-new destinations, refined gameplay, and blockbuster cinematic moments,” said Naughty Dog creative director Shaun Escayg in a PlayStation blog post. “We’re especially excited to have Chloe as our new protagonist and explore more of her story as she and Nadine venture across India in search of the fabled Tusk of Ganesh. To that end, we wanted to share a new scene from early on in the game as Chloe and Nadine try to unravel the clues leading to the Tusk’s location.”

In “River Revelation,” the audience sees Nadine and Chloe on a boat to their next destination. While Nadine is worrying about Asav, who is powerful enough to get in their way, Chloe seemingly decodes an amulet, which turns into a key. A trident, bow and arrow, and an axe serve as the symbols that will lead the duo tfindng the Tusk of Ganesh. Ganesh lost his tusk in battle, as represented by these weapons. After Nadine praises Chloe for the revelation, she picks up a small statue that was placed on the table. Chloe takes the statue away from Nadine, encouraging her to prepare for their journey as the sun rises. She leaves, and Chloe is left staring at the small statue.

“Since revealing Uncharted: The Lost Legacy at PSX, we’ve been hard at work building a story and an experience that joins a new protagonist, fan favorite Chloe Frazer, with all of the hallmarks of an Uncharted adventure,” said Escayg.

Some of the gameplay seen at the PlayStation booth during E3 shows Nadine and Chloe fighting off henchmen of Asav. The way Chloe is able to sneak around enemies, throwing them off ledges and taking them down is similar to other games in the Uncharted franchise. Also, the audience is able to see some of the shocking cinematic action that takes place during gameplay, including the ground breaking apart and a truck busting through a wall. The two characters break through a temple, which causes the floor to break (also due to the gunfire that they are being hit with) and they fall into a underground cave. Also shown is how Nadine is also able to fight the enemies, making it easier for Chloe (since that is who the player plays as).

The game is available for pre-order on the PlayStation store, Best Buy, Gamestop and Amazon for $39.99. If a player owns an Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End Digital Deluxe Edition, an Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End Triple Pack or an Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End Explorer’s Pack, Uncharted: The Lost Legacy will be available as a digital download. If you decide to pre-order the game, then you can get a free copy of Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy for PlayStation 4.

Uncharted: The Lost Legacy will be released August 22 of this year for PlayStation 4.
