The video-sharing website YouTube is expanding its gaming ambitions by providing premium subscribers access to online games. These games were initially tested with a restricted group of users in September. The firm, which Google owns, has begun informing Premium subscribers that they can now take part in more than thirty different minigames.
Users can play games immediately and do not need to download anything to Android; iOS and desktop browsers are all supported for playing the games.
To begin, users may locate a shelf labeled “Playables” by scrolling down on the Home screen or clicking on a link labeled “Playables” in the Explore menu on both desktop and mobile devices. Daily Solitaire, The Daily Crossword, Angry Birds Showdown, Merge Pirates, Farm Land, Words of Wonder, Endless Siege, 8 Ball Billiards Classic, and Brain Out are some of the games included in the game collection.
Because YouTube states that the games are playable until March 28th, it is possible that the games will not always be accessible. Before selecting whether to provide a new feature to the general public, YouTube frequently conducts testing with its Premium members. There is also the possibility that YouTube provides access to the games to its Premium subscribers to mitigate the impact of its recent hike in the membership rate to $13.99.
YouTube is only one of the many platforms not explicitly related to gaming that have entered the gaming industry. In the previous two years, Netflix expanded its gaming selection, now having more than seventy titles. The streaming behemoth is also taking steps to grow into the cloud gaming industry. During this time, TikTok has conducted experimental tests of HTML5 minigames with a select group of partners. These partners include game companies Vodoo, Nitro Games, FRVR, Aim Lab, and Lotum. On the other hand, the gaming aspirations of ByteDance, the parent company of TikTok, have significantly slowed down as the business has begun to lay off many employees in its gaming sections.
YouTube has recently begun experimenting with new generative artificial intelligence features, including an AI conversational tool that answers questions about YouTube’s content and a new feature that summarizes topics discussed in the comments section of a video. Games are not the only new thing that premium users are getting access to.
Earlier this month, YouTube introduced additional capabilities exclusive to its Premium members. The firm made enhanced bitrate versions of 1080p HD available on more devices. Additionally, the company made it possible to continue viewing YouTube on various devices, including smart TVs and tablets. Additionally, the company introduced badges highlighting achievements and new offers on the Premium Perks page.
