Somber news has reached the gaming world, a young video game designer by the name of David Tse Jr. aged 22 has passed away. Tse was scheduled to launch his new virtual reality video game that he had been working on for five years. He even tweeted trying to find a graphic designer to make the logo for his game, he received 6 replies but unfortunately he was never bale to answer any of them.
Tse died Tuesday July 18th due to an unknown accident just three days before his 23rd birthday. His game was left unfinished but his father James Tse Sr. wants to finish the game in honor of his son. “I want to make sure it goes through to the end for him, I think that’s what he would have wanted. He spent thousands and thousands of hours on this project.”
According to David Tse’s stepmother, he was always interested in coding, programming and video games in general when he was a middle school student, he wasn’t simply interested in playing video games he was interested in seeing how they work and creating them, his stepmother also stated that while most children would be playing outside or watching TV he would be reading books learning about how video games worked.
His stepmother stated that creating vide games was David Tse’s passion in life and was really what he wanted to do in life, he was a curious child with a lot of questions and wanted to know how things worked and would even ask for an answer to simple things that no one could answer such as, “Why is the sky blue?” According to his father David had a go-getter attitude where he would ask people for rides to the library at age 10 and ask his father questions about programming, Tse attended the University of Texas at San Antonio.
The game David Tse was working on is known as Lastworld a virtual reality (VR) game that is set in a post-apocalyptic world where the player will have to battle through waves of zombies in order to survive. Tse had hopes of the game being released on popular VR headsets such as Oculus Rift and Vive. David Tse was wvery excited about releasing his game and wanted to see how people would respond to it, he loved what he did and through the support of his was close to achieving his dream, though his father will achieve it for him. His parents encourage others to do what they love and work towards their goal just as their son did, for tomorrow is promised to no one.
