Google Chat will reflect the new UI of Drive, Docs, Sheets, Slides, and Gmail. This app uses Material Design 3 like its other Workspace apps.
The GIF below shows that the UI now has rounded buttons, a rounded search bar, and blue accents. In addition, the main message view, compose setup, new topic button, and thread panel in direct messages and spaces have also been tweaked.
This week, Google also introduced a Chat feature enabling Space Managers to build announcement-only channels like Slack. A separate announcements section makes it easier to identify critical updates and keep a team on the same page.
