Spotify now supports iOS 16 widgets, so you can quickly access your music from the Lock Screen or display album art of recently played music on your home screen. Unfortunately, Unfortunately, Spotify hardly supported iOS system integrations before the 8.8.26 upgrade, save for Now Playing, enabling iPhone listeners to access music controls quickly.
Spotify supports iOS widgets on home and lock screens late. The customizable iOS 16 lock screen was one of Apple’s biggest hits last year (yes, Android had it before), and competing music applications like Tidal already supported iOS widgets, both large and tiny ones that may show your “daily discovery” and more.
Spotify sued Apple over its in-app payment costs and won an antitrust battle in Europe. Spotify supports CarPlay and has an Apple Watch app enabling gym-goers to listen to music without their iPhones.
The new Spotify widget is straightforward to add and follows the same instructions as most widgets. In addition, it supports both home screen widget sizes.
