Fitbit login is changing. Fitbit users may log in with Google this summer. New device setups will require a Google Account for non-Fitbit users.
The news is expected. This October, Google declared that all Fitbit users would ultimately have to transition to Google accounts, starting in 2023, on a progressive, voluntary basis. This indicates the move is on schedule.
Google underlined that Fitbit customers don’t have to convert immediately, merely “by 2025.” Open the Fitbit app to see prompts for quick starters. Settings is another option. Google claims moving logins won’t affect fitness and health data.
Google has aggressively integrated Fitbit’s services and products since the Pixel Watch launched last autumn. As a result, Fitbit is now “Fitbit by Google.” However, giveno frequent server failures and a lack of substitutes for older services like challenges and open groups, discontinued last month, some longstanding Fitbit users are unhappy.
Google said the new login requirements would make it easier for users to use one password for both services instead of two. In addition, the Google Privacy Center will let consumers manage Fitbit data, the firm said. EU authorities want Google to keep Fitbit data separate from Google Ads data and not use it for targeted adverts.
