Microsoft claimed cyberattacks caused interruptions in some of its services earlier this month but found no evidence of user data being accessed or compromised.
“Beginning in early June 2023, Microsoft identified surges in traffic against some services that temporarily impacted availability,” the company wrote in a blog post.
After identifying the danger, Microsoft began investigating Storm-1359’s DDoS behavior.
Microsoft didn’t immediately react to Reuters’ request to identify the attacker.
DDoS attacks use mass internet traffic to take down targeted servers.
Microsoft’s 365 software suite, including Teams and Outlook, was down for nearly two hours on June 5 and briefly the following morning for thousands of users. Microsoft’s fourth outage in a year.
