Two powerhouses of British watchmaking have come together on something you never expected
Christopher Ward and Studio Underd0g have joined forces on a collaboration that few saw coming. The result is the Alliance 02 — a modern pocket watch designed for today’s watch collector.
British watchmaking is enjoying a strong moment right now, with a growing number of homegrown brands producing genuinely exciting timepieces. Christopher Ward has been a key part of that rise, and its latest project sees the brand team up with Studio Underd0g on a piece that breaks away from expectations.

The Alliance 02 is described as “a pocket watch you can wear with sneakers”. Rather than a traditional metal chain, it comes with a braided leather strap and a bamboo desk stand, reinforcing its contemporary approach.
Housed in a 44mm case, the watch is powered by the CW-001 movement — a chronometer-grade calibre with a five-day power reserve. The movement may sound familiar, as CW-001 is the updated name for Christopher Ward’s SH21.
The dial is built on a brass base and finished with seven layers of Super-LumiNova, topped by a floating 1.4mm sapphire disc. This construction gives the dial a striking three-dimensional effect, with its appearance shifting subtly under different lighting conditions.

Assembly takes place in the UK, and all profits from the Alliance 02 will go directly to the Alliance of British Watch and Clockmakers, the organisation behind initiatives such as British Watchmakers’ Day.
Production is strictly limited to 100 pieces. Availability is restricted to Alliance members, who must register their interest via the Christopher Ward website. Sales open on 11 December at 3pm.
Priced at £2,995 / €3,895 / US$4,150 (approximately AU$6,000), the Alliance 02 is likely to attract strong interest, not just for its rarity and design, but also for the cause it supports.
