Stellantis (STLAM.MI) and iPhone manufacturer Foxconn (2317. TW) have formed a 50-50 joint venture to design and sell automotive electronics from 2026.

The joint company, SiliconAuto, will deliver Stellantis, including its innovative “STLA Brain” electronic and software architecture, to Foxconn and other clients.

“SiliconAuto will provide customers an auto industry-centric source of semiconductors for the growing number of computer-controlled features and modules, particularly those needed for electric vehicles,” they stated.
Stellantis and Foxconn inked a tentative agreement in December 2021 to collaborate on automotive semiconductors. Fiat and Peugeot are Stellantis brands.

A global supply chain shortage has plagued semiconductors, essential to low-emission and linked mobility.

“Stellantis will benefit from a robust supply of essential components, which is critical to fueling the rapid, software-defined transformation of our products,” said Chief Technology Officer Ned Curic.

SiliconAuto will be based in the Netherlands, where Stellantis is, and managed by executives from both parties. Stellantis and Foxconn’s Mobile Drive joint venture develops automotive in-car and connected-car technology.
