Twitter Inc. CEO Elon Musk tweeted on Monday that dormant accounts will be deleted after years, calling it “important to free up abandoned handles.”

Musk tweeted that inactive accounts will be archived.
Twitter’s archive access was uncertain. Musk also proposed deleting several defunct micro-blogging accounts to reduce followers.

Twitter users must log in every 30 days to prevent permanent removal due to inactivity.

Musk “threatened” to switch the account to another firm earlier this month when National Public Radio stopped broadcasting to its 52 official Twitter accounts in protest of a Twitter label indicating government participation in its editorial content.

Last month, celebrities, journalists, and politicians lost their Twitter verified blue ticks. Musk verified Twitter Blue accounts to stop bots.
