Uber opens UK flight ticket reservations

The Financial Times reported on Wednesday that Uber Technologies Inc (UBER.N) has begun offering airline tickets on its UK app, both internationally and domestically.

Uber’s UK General Manager Andrew Brem told FT that this was “the latest and most ambitious step” in the company’s aim to extend its main ride-booking business.

According to the article, the San Francisco-based firm has begun rolling out the new service for its UK clients and aims to expand in the coming weeks. The company currently provides railway and coach ticket purchases in the UK.

According to the article, Uber is teaming up with flight-selling travel agency Hopper to earn a cut of ticket sales. When asked for comment, Uber did not get back to us right away.
