On Friday, Volkswagen (VOWG_p.DE) announced that it will begin selling battery-powered VW buses in North America in 2024.

Introducing the electric ID. Buzz will also offer an extra-long variant with a larger 85 kWh battery and seven seats.

VW buses left North America 20 years ago with the T4 generation. Volkswagen stated, “But the microbus – as the VW bus is called between New York and San Francisco – has retained its cult status right up to the present day.”

Volkswagen claimed all IDs. Buzz vehicles for North America will be constructed at its Hanover, Germany facility and can be charged from 10% to 80% in 25 minutes at rapid charging stations.
