Apple first introduced MacBook in 2006, and it was a cheap alternative to the MacBook Pro. The company reintroduced it in 2015, which was followed by an advanced version in 2017.
Although the 2017 MacBook is quite amazing, the company discontinued it and replaced it with the refreshed MacBook Air. Currently, the company doesn’t have any plans to launch a new MacBook. However, many third-party sellers still have the 12-inch MacBook. And it’s a good option for all people who want to have a thin and light Ultrabook.
Price:
You won’t find this notebook at Apple’s online store because the company discontinued it. However, you would be able to get it from third-party sellers for $1,299 or even less.
If you want a more powerful 12-inch MacBook, you will have to pay more. For example, you can find a MacBook with an Intel Core i5-7Y54 and 512 GB of storage. However, with greater power comes a greater price tag. It’s going to cost you $1,599. If you want to go a step further and aim for Core i7-7Y75, 16GB RAM, and 512GB storage space, you will have to pay $1,949. Design:
The 2017 Apple MacBook’s design isn’t that different from the 2016 model. The color choices are Gold, Space Gray, brushed aluminum, and Rose Gold. The laptop looks quite elegant in all the color schemes. Like all Apple laptops, this notebook has the traditional Apple logo on the back.

The feathery weight and thin chassis are also quite amazing. Although it can be its single biggest selling feature, an extra USB-C port and a thinner screen bezel would have been better. The MacBook’s glass-coated trackpad is the same as the one in 2016, which makes it quite enjoyable to use. Apple’s touch interface tech is quite excellent.
A major advantage that the MacBook 2017 has over the previous models is that it features second-generation switches with a back-lit keyboard. This gives you a better and more comfortable typing experience.
Display:
Apple has made a name for itself by producing laptops with amazing displays, and the MacBook follows this tradition. Although in 2019, it hasn’t got the sharpest screen, editing photos and other graphics seem quite flawless in the MacBook 2017.
Regarding the sound quality, the MacBook 2017 accompanies some large tunes, with four stereo speakers present near the hinge. However, like other notebooks, the sound can be a bit thin, and some channels in the song might disappear totally. Quite frankly, you won’t get better audio in a laptop this thin.
Performance:
The 2017 MacBook still contains the M-and Y-series Intel processors. However, in layman terms, you should know that it will effectively handle all the heavy tasks in 2019. You can do editing, watch movies, and run compatible games on it. Moreover, you won’t feel the notebook slowing down in google chrome, even with 10 or 20 tabs.
When you test the MacBook on the Geekbench 4, it will score 3,879 for a single core and 7,072 for multi-core. These numbers indicate that it will easily handle basic and advanced tasks.
Battery Life:
One main advantage that the MacBook has over other competitors is its longevity. Its battery life is 8 hours, 4 minutes. This is half an hour more than the Pixel Book. However, it is still less than Apple’s claim battery claims of up to 12 hours of iTunes movie playback and 10 hours of web browsing. Its battery life is more than the Ultrabooks of 2019.
Verdict:
The MacBook 2017 has many good points, like an updated processor, a long battery life, and an improved keyboard. However, its audio is lagging and is quite expensive. Still, if you can get past the price, you are in for a treat because it’s one of the best notebooks Apple has produced in years.
