The Turtle Beach Rematch Wireless Controller for Nintendo Switch 2 combines colorful Nintendo-inspired designs with features aimed at improving comfort, responsiveness and customization. With RGB lighting, TMR thumbsticks, motion controls and programmable rear buttons, it offers an alternative to Nintendo’s official controller.
The Rematch is officially licensed for Nintendo Switch 2 and is also compatible with the original Switch, Switch Lite and Switch OLED. Turtle Beach lists a 30-foot wireless range and a rechargeable battery rated for up to 40 hours with RGB lighting turned off. With the RGB effects enabled, battery life drops to up to 12 hours.
Designed to Stand Out
One of the controller’s biggest attractions is its collection of themed designs. Options include Rosalina, K.K. Slider, Timmy & Tommy, Mario Kart World, Koopa Troop, Mario & Luigi and Super Mario Jump, alongside a Charcoal Black version for players who prefer a simpler look. Several models use four RGB lighting modes to illuminate elements of their designs.
The Rosalina edition is particularly distinctive, featuring a turquoise-and-yellow design with illuminated stars and rainbow effects. Other versions take inspiration from Animal Crossing and Super Mario, giving the controller a more character-focused appearance than a conventional black gamepad.

TMR Thumbsticks and Custom Controls
The Rematch uses TMR (Tunneling Magnetoresistance) thumbsticks, a contactless sensing technology designed to provide precise control while reducing the physical wear associated with traditional analog-stick mechanisms. Turtle Beach also includes two programmable buttons on the back of the controller, allowing players to assign frequently used actions without taking their thumbs off the sticks.
Motion controls are built in as well, making the controller suitable for games that use movement-based inputs. A dedicated C button provides quick access to GameChat features on Nintendo Switch 2.
The controller weighs about 0.79 pounds (0.36kg) and uses an ergonomic design with textured grips. Its relatively compact build can make it comfortable during longer gaming sessions, particularly for players who prefer smaller gamepads.
What It Gets Right — and What It Lacks
The Rematch delivers responsive controls and a feature set that goes beyond basic wireless gameplay. The TMR sticks, rear buttons, motion controls and GameChat access give it several practical advantages, while the themed designs and RGB lighting add a strong visual element.
There are some compromises, however. The controller does not include haptic feedback, and it cannot independently wake a Nintendo Switch 2 console. The RGB lighting also has a significant impact on battery life, reducing the advertised maximum from 40 hours to 12 hours.
The lightweight construction may also feel less substantial to players accustomed to heavier controllers. That said, the lower weight can be an advantage for longer gaming sessions.
A Controller Built Around Personality
At $64.99, the Rematch Wireless Controller sits in the same general price range as many feature-rich third-party Switch 2 controllers. Turtle Beach currently lists the standard Switch 2 Rematch models at that price, while the Fortnite Kevin the Cube version is priced at $69.99.
Ultimately, the Rematch’s appeal is as much about personality as performance. Its TMR sticks, wireless connectivity and customizable controls make it a capable gamepad, but the Nintendo-themed designs and RGB effects are what separate it from more conventional alternatives.
For Switch 2 players who want a controller that feels comfortable while adding a little more character to their gaming setup, the Rematch offers a combination of customization and functionality without moving too far from the familiar Pro Controller-style layout.
