With Halloween just around the corner, streaming platforms are rolling out another batch of movies and TV shows for viewers to enjoy this weekend. Although the latest releases aren’t particularly focused on horror, there’s plenty of variety, from action-packed thrillers and animated adventures to romantic comedies, documentaries, and mystery series.

Here are seven notable new releases to add to your weekend watchlist.

1. Moana — Disney+

Disney’s live-action remake of Moana has arrived on Disney+, giving viewers another opportunity to experience the story originally introduced in the animated film a decade ago.

The remake struggled at the box office earlier this year, facing stiff competition from other major releases. Its close resemblance to the original also raised questions about whether audiences wanted a new version so soon after the animated film’s debut.

Now that the adaptation is available to stream, viewers can decide for themselves whether it successfully brings the beloved adventure to life in a different format.

Where to watch: Disney+

2. The Terminal List Season 2 — Prime Video

Chris Pratt returns as James Reece in the second season of The Terminal List, bringing another dose of military action and suspense to Prime Video.

Based on True Believer, the second novel in Jack Carr’s book series, the new season follows Reece as he searches for a new purpose after completing the mission that drove the first season.

His next assignment comes with a significant incentive: the US government offers him a presidential pardon if he completes a difficult operation. As Reece embarks on a mission spanning multiple countries, he begins to uncover possible connections to his own family history.

The series should appeal to viewers looking for an action thriller built around high-stakes missions, conspiracy, and a complicated central character.

Where to watch: Prime Video

3. Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Season 2 — Netflix

Netflix returns to the futuristic world of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners with a standalone sequel to the acclaimed first season and the Cyberpunk 2077 video game universe.

Rather than continuing David Martinez’s story, the new season introduces two protagonists, Weak and D, whose lives become entangled in a complex narrative set in Night City.

The series offers another opportunity to explore the dangerous, technologically advanced world that helped make the original anime a hit. Viewers who enjoyed the first season’s distinctive atmosphere and storytelling may want to jump into the new installment without delay.

Where to watch: Netflix

4. The Invite — HBO Max

Olivia Wilde returns to the director’s chair with The Invite, a relationship comedy featuring Wilde, Seth Rogen, Penélope Cruz, and Edward Norton.

The story follows Joe and Angela, a married couple whose relationship is already under strain. Their evening takes an unexpected turn when their upstairs neighbors, Pina and Hawk, arrive for a dinner party and reveal that they regularly host sex parties.

The neighbors then invite Joe and Angela to consider swapping partners for the night. After some hesitation, the couple agrees, setting the stage for an uncomfortable but potentially revealing exploration of relationships, intimacy, and personal boundaries.

Critics have praised the screenplay and ensemble cast, making the film an appealing option for viewers in the mood for an awkward, character-driven comedy.

5. Nobody Wants This Season 3 — Netflix

Kristen Bell and Adam Brody return as Joanne and Noah in the third season of Netflix’s romantic comedy Nobody Wants This.

The new episodes find the couple moving in together, a major step that brings fresh complications. Joanne has been evicted from her previous home, while Noah is concerned that she still hasn’t decided whether she’ll convert to Judaism for him.

Their relationship is further complicated by Noah’s decision to turn down the head rabbi position at Temple Chai in favor of their relationship, leaving questions about his professional future and their long-term compatibility.

With major life decisions on the table, the latest season explores whether the couple can navigate their differences and build a stable future together.

Where to watch: Netflix

6. A Course Called Ireland — Paramount+

Golf and travel come together in A Course Called Ireland, a six-part documentary series starring actor Bill Murray and author Tom Coyne.

Inspired by Coyne’s book of the same name, the series follows the pair on a road trip around Ireland as Murray explores his Irish roots while playing some of the country’s celebrated golf courses.

They are joined along the way by celebrity guests, including Chris O’Dowd and Jason Kelce.

The series promises a relaxed mix of travel, sport, humor, and personal discovery. It’s a fitting choice for golf enthusiasts, Bill Murray fans, or anyone looking for an easygoing weekend watch.

Where to watch: Paramount+

7. Phony — Hulu

Hulu’s new comedy-mystery series Phony begins with a disturbing premise.

High school student Sonny Cooke, played by Sam Nivola, is involved in a car accident and falls into a coma lasting a week. When he wakes up, he becomes convinced that his mother, Ellen, played by Connie Britton, has been replaced by an impostor.

Sonny recruits his friends to investigate the mystery, raising a central question: has someone really taken his mother’s place, or is he struggling to understand reality after his accident?

Although the setup has a dark edge, the series also incorporates comedy, balancing unsettling questions with lighter moments. Its blend of mystery and humor could make it a compelling choice for viewers who enjoy stories that keep them guessing.
