Huawei P40 is one of the biggest mysteries in the tech industry. Although Huawei claimed that it would release the phone in March 2020, we aren’t so sure about it.
Due to the current Huawei ban, the new Huawei smartphones won’t have Google apps. It decreases their value compared to other smartphones. When the company launched the Huawei Mate 30 Pro, it didn’t have Google apps too.
Things look grim for Huawei right now. However, we are still eagerly waiting for Huawei P40 smartphone. Our favorite phones from Huawei are the recently released Huawei P30 and P30 Pro. Moreover, Huawei P30 Pro had the best camera we have seen for a long time. However, the smartphone industry is quite competitive, and more smartphones come out with amazing upgrades. Thus, Huawei P40 and P40 Pro need to have a significant upgrade to keep up with the changing industry.

It’s highly likely that the Samsung Galaxy S11 is going to launch before Huawei P40. Moreover, Samsung Galaxy Note 11 and iPhone 12 are arriving in 2020. Thus, Huawei needs to have huge upgrades to be relevant in the industry.

Price and Release:
Huawei has clearly stated that the Huawei P40 will come out at the end of March. This isn’t a surprise because Huawei P30 and P30 Pro were released in March 2019, and the previous flagship phones were released in March 2018. Thus, it won’t appear in MWC 2020. However, we don’t know the exact launch date yet.
The launch timing makes perfect sense as Huawei likes to separate its launches from other big tech events. It previously launched the P series handsets at MWC at the end of February. However, many new phones are launched in that show. Huawei wants its phone to get the maximum exposure. That’s why the company has delayed the Huawei P40 release till March.
Regarding the price, Huawei P30 cost $910, whereas the P30 Pro cost $1,140. Both these models were pricier than the previous year’s phones. Thus, we expect the same trend to follow in 2020. However, we don’t expect Huawei P40 to be available in the U.S.
Leaks and Rumors:
Despite Huawei’s ban in the U.S., the company is still planning to launch the phone globally. Even if the ban is in place, the company will release the phone. However, it won’t contain Google apps.
A Huawei executive stated that Huawei P40 is going to have a “never before seen” design. He also said that it would run Android 10. This suggests that the company is making significant changes to the new phone.
A leaked image of Huawei P40 shows the camera bump. The backside lump will be in the top-left of the phone, just like in Huawei P30. This feature isn’t too different from the devices of other companies.
Currently, we don’t know about the camera details. However, the large camera bump indicates that it might have four snappers. Huawei P30 Pro had three cameras and a fourth to the side. Therefore, Huawei P40 may have more than four cameras.
According to the famous analyst Ming-Chi Ku, Huawei P40 could have a 10x optical zoom. However, we don’t know about the exact zooming features.
