Some U.S. iPhone owners can now file claims for compensation from Apple’s $250 million settlement over allegations that the company delayed Apple Intelligence features promised for its devices.

The settlement applies to eligible customers who purchased certain iPhones in the United States between June 10, 2024, and March 29, 2025. Apple has not admitted wrongdoing as part of the agreement.

Eligible claimants are expected to receive about $25 per qualifying device, although the final amount can vary depending on the number of valid claims. Under the settlement terms, the payment can reach a maximum of $95 per device. The $250 million fund will also cover legal fees, taxes and administrative expenses.

Which iPhones Qualify?

The settlement covers the following models:

  • iPhone 15 Pro
  • iPhone 15 Pro Max
  • iPhone 16
  • iPhone 16e
  • iPhone 16 Plus
  • iPhone 16 Pro
  • iPhone 16 Pro Max

To qualify, the claimant must be a U.S. resident and the device must have been purchased in the U.S. during the settlement period for personal or business use rather than resale. The claimant must also be the original purchaser.

Customers outside the United States, including those in the UK, Canada and other countries, are not covered by this settlement.

How to File a Claim

The official settlement website is now accepting claims. Customers have until December 21, 2026, to submit a valid claim.

To file:

  1. Visit Smartphone AI Settlement.
  2. Select the option to file a claim.
  3. If you received a settlement notice, enter your Claim ID and PIN. If not, the website provides an option to begin without them.
  4. Provide the requested personal and device information.
  5. Enter your qualifying iPhone’s serial number or other requested verification information.
  6. Select an available payment method and certify that your information is accurate.
  7. Submit the claim before December 21.

The settlement website says claimants can submit a separate claim for each eligible device.

Your iPhone’s serial number can generally be found under Settings > General > About.

Why Is Apple Paying the Settlement?

The class action alleged that Apple marketed certain enhanced Siri capabilities as part of Apple Intelligence before those features were actually ready. Plaintiffs argued that consumers purchased qualifying iPhones expecting to receive those capabilities sooner than they ultimately became available.

Apple denied the allegations and did not admit wrongdoing, but agreed to the $250 million settlement. The settlement received preliminary court approval in July 2026, while a final approval hearing is scheduled for February 24, 2027.

For eligible U.S. iPhone owners, the key date is December 21, 2026. A valid claim must be submitted by then to be considered for a settlement payment.
