Fans of the popular Assassin’s Creed video game series have just received good news! The long standing rumored Assassin’s Creed Origins video game that will tell the tale of what started it all has finally been announced! Set to take place in Ancient Egypt primarily in the cities of Memphis and Alexandria, as well as the Mediterranean Sea and the tombs of Giza, Assassin’s Creed Origins will center around the character Bayek, an Egyptian sheriff with the skills of an assassin who struggles to fight against forces “corrupting ancient Egypt,” however, our protagonist soon realizes he cannot battle these forces alone and he soon begins to form the Assassin Brotherhood throughout the rest of the game.
The game was announced at Microsoft’s press conference on Sunday, June 11th alongside the reveal of the Xbox One X, formerly known as “Project Scorpio.” According to Ubisoft the game has been in development for 4 years by Ubisoft Montreal after completion of the sixth installment of the series Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag, Ubisoft describes Assassin’s Creed Origins as a “brand new vision” that will incorporate RPG elements similar to those incorporated into the previous installment of the Assassin’s Creed series Assassin’s Creed Syndicate, such as leveling up your character, loot drops after defeating an opponent, and more customization options such as skill trees for changing or teaching your character new abilities after leveling up.
The game will still stay true to the stealth-based action Assassin’s Creed is known for, with the inclusion of the new hawk detection feature , hawk detection will allow players to switch into the protagonist’s overhead hawk in order to survey the land from the sky, the towering buildings players have seen in former Assassin’s Creed games will not be in the game so use of the hawk will be an essential tool for players to use. The combat shown in the game and backed up by Ubisoft, shows that the combat has will be more fluid and the player will be able to move their assassin more quickly and smoothly when fighting enemies, and in keeping with the Egyptian setting the assassin was seen wielding an Egyptian sword and shield and using bows and arrows in combat as well. Like it’s predecessors the game will include a season pass that will give players access to any upcoming DLCs and expansion packs after the game is released. Assassin’s Creed Origins is set to be released October 27th, 2017 and for those who preorder a special “Secrets of the First Pyramids” mission will be available. For more information about the game be sure to tune in to Ubisoft’s press conference on Monday at 4:00 PM EDT. Happy gaming!
