CD Projekt cannot be sold. – CEO

After weekend rumors that Sony (6758.T) may buy “Cyberpunk 2077” developer CD Projekt (CDR.WA), its CEO stated on Monday that the company is not for sale.

We haven’t changed. We’ve always said CD Projekt isn’t for sale. “We want to remain independent,” Adam Kicinski said on a conference call after first-quarter results.
“It’s very exciting to follow our own path, so it’s pure rumour,” he said of Twitter and trade newsletter conjecture.

As it prepares to issue a “Cyberpunk 2077” expansion, CD Projekt, linked to Microsoft, announced a 1% increase in quarterly net profit.

Despite a 19% year-on-year revenue reduction to 174.8 million zlotys, the business behind “The Witcher” series reported a net profit of 69.7 million ($16.8 million).
On June 8, CD Projekt will debut “Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty” during Summer Game Fest: Play Days in Los Angeles after two years without a big release.

Kicinski said, “We are also planning a range of other events around the world, and will have more information to share in the coming weeks”.

CD Projekt will use Unreal Engine 5 for future projects, including a new Witcher trilogy, a remake of Witcher 1, and a Cyberpunk sequel. “Phantom Liberty” is the last game made on RED. Cyberpunk 2077 has sold 20 million copies. The Witcher trilogy has sold over 75 million copies, and “The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt” has sold over 50 million.
