What makes this deal worth considering?
Good value for 1080p gaming
The RTX 5050 and Intel Core i5 combination should provide enough power for many popular games, particularly competitive titles such as Fortnite, Roblox, and League of Legends, as well as indie games and older releases.
You shouldn’t expect flagship-level performance, however. Some more demanding games will require lower graphics settings to maintain smooth frame rates.
A 144Hz display for smoother gameplay
The 15.6-inch, 144Hz screen is a useful feature at this price. Its high refresh rate can make motion look smoother in supported games, especially fast-paced competitive titles.
16GB of RAM is a sensible starting point
The included 16GB of DDR5 memory should be adequate for typical gaming and everyday multitasking. It gives the laptop a practical foundation for users who want to play games without paying for a premium configuration.
The 512GB SSD is the main compromise
Storage is the biggest limitation. With modern games often taking up substantial space, a 512GB SSD may fill up quickly if you maintain a large library.
It’s manageable if you primarily play a handful of games at a time, but you may need to uninstall titles you no longer play.
Is the MSI Cyborg 15 worth buying?
TechRadar awarded previous versions of the MSI Cyborg 15 four out of five stars, describing it as a solid budget gaming laptop.
At the advertised $899 price, this configuration is worth considering if you’re looking for an affordable machine for 1080p gaming and don’t need maximum graphics settings in every title.
Buy it if: you mainly play competitive games, indie releases, or older titles and want a 144Hz display with a dedicated Nvidia GPU.
Think twice if: you want to play demanding new games at high settings, need more than 512GB of storage, or expect premium gaming-laptop performance.
Deal note: The $899 price and $400 saving are as reported in the supplied article. Confirm the current price and exact configuration on Walmart before purchasing.
