Rockstar Games sets ‘GTA VI’ launch for 2025 in the game’s first trailer. The debut teaser for the videogame revealed that Rockstar Games had scheduled the release of its much-anticipated “Grand Theft Auto VI” for 2025. This news disappointed many investors who had anticipated that the most recent version of the best-selling franchise would be released sooner.
In premarket trading on Tuesday, shares of Take-Two Interactive Software (TTWO.O.), the parent company, which had increased by about fifty percent this year, dropped seven percent.
“Vice City” was a fictionalized portrayal of Miami, Florida, and the trailer portrayed a couple who resembled “Bonnie and Clyde” doing heinous acts as they made their way around the city. As a result of a version being leaked on social media, it was made available on Monday, which was earlier than the scheduled early Tuesday announcement.
Andrew Uerkwitz, an analyst at Jefferies, says, “As is typical for first trailers, it does not show much other than setting the scene, incredible graphic fidelity, and hinting at the gameplay.”
“There is still no exact release date, so fears of a delay into holiday 2025 … will immediately ensue.”
Considering that Take-Two’s fiscal year commences in April and ends in March, a delay that extends beyond that time frame may stretch the sales of the games to the fiscal year 2026.
“A February/March 2025 release date could indeed deliver Take-Two’s guidance of about $8 billion in bookings in financial year 2025 and growth in 2026,” according to Uerkwitz.
There have been approximately 60 million views of the “GTA VI” trailer on YouTube in just ten hours after it was released. The game will be available for consoles manufactured by Sony and Microsoft, namely the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S.
A request for comment about the game’s launch on PlayStation 4 and personal computers was not immediately met with a response from Take-Two.
Without a doubt, “GTA VI” will be an instant smash. Since its initial release in 2013, the previous installment has generated around $7.68 billion in revenue, making it one of the most profitable video games ever.
In 2024, analysts anticipate that further information on “GTA VI,” such as its cost and the possibility of an online multiplayer version, will be disclosed.
