Upcoming Video Game Cuphead Will Take It’s Own Unique Turn Upon Release

A new video game is making its appearance in September and it’s going to be unlike anything gamers have ever seen before. The video game Cuphead was announced by Microsoft back at E3 2014 during their annual briefing, the game was originally being pushed for a 2016 release date, but developer MDHR pushed the released date for the game to mid-2017 last October.

The game will center around the main protagonist Cuphead alongside his trusty partner Mughead, who go on adventures in a retro-styled world, in co-op, run-and-gun sidescroller fashion. The game itself inspired was by old Disney and Max Fleischer cartoons and has the animation style of an old school cartoon where the bosses are huge animated anthropomorphic planes, cars, cigars, or even a giant cartoon devil. Unfortunately the game will not be available on the PlayStation 4 and when asked to confirm if the Xbox One exclusivity was true the game’s developers provided this response, “Yes, this Cuphead game is exclusive to Xbox and PC (with Steam and Win10 versions at launch and a GoG release likely shortly after). There will likely be a Mac version down the road and possibly a Linux version beyond that (unless we lose our houses or whatever). We own the Cuphead IP.”

So, unfortunately, PS4 owners may never be able to play Cuphead on their consoles, but maybe somewhere along the line, the game along with a sequel (that developers are rumored to be planning) will be released on the PS4. The game’s graphics and bosses are another part of what makes Cuphead so unique, the animation for the game is hand-drawn just like the cartoons from Disney that the game took its inspiration from, as for the gameplay as mentioned prior the game will play in sidescroller fashion (the same style as Super Mario Bros.) and will have many cartoon bosses such as a giant woodpecker, a giant balloon clown, and a giant cigar and rather than jumping on the characters heads, Cupman and Mughead have fingers that are able to shoot bullets in order to deal with their foes.

Cupman will launch September 29th and will cost $19.99, the game will be compatible with Xbox Play Anywhere, allowing for crossplay on Xbox One and Windows 10. the game will be rated “E for everyone” despite its cartoon style of animation, because of it’s suggestive themes, characters, and abilities for the characters the game. Happy gaming!
