Bethesda had quite a short E3 press conference this year, announcing Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus and The Evil Within 2 while also showing off DOOM VFR and Fallout 4 VR, their newest VR games.
Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus is the sequel to Wolfenstein: The New Order and takes place after the events of the last game. Here is the description of the story of the game, from a blog post on Wolfenstein‘s official website:
“Set in America in 1961, The New Colossus will take BJ (dubbed “Terror-Billy” by the Nazis) from post-nuclear Manhattan to small-town Roswell to the bayous and boulevards of New Orleans and beyond, as he leads the Resistance against the Nazi occupation of his beloved country.
But this isn’t just the riveting tale of one man’s mission to build a movement and fight the evil that’s overtaken his nation. BJ must also rebuild himself. After barely surviving the assassination of Nazi General Deathshead at the end of Wolfenstein: The New Order, BJ begins his exhilarating adventure while still recovering from his extensive injuries. Bloody but unbowed, he soon finds himself fully restored and stronger than ever. Along the way, BJ will mow down anyone in his path using an awesome arsenal of high-tech weaponry, including the Laserkraftwerk (perfect for disintegrating Nazi goons) or the Dieselkraftwerk (built to blast a bunch of enemies with gas-powered grenades). BJ can also get up close and personal using the new hatchet – because there’s nothing more satisfying than slamming a handheld ax into the crunchy cranium of a vile Nazi commandant.”
This game takes place in an alternate reality where the Nazis won World War II and have ruled over Europe ever since. The eight minute reveal trailer can be seen here on Bethesda’s official YouTube channel. The audience sees BJ recruiting other rebels to form a resistance against the Nazis, whose propaganda and military presence strikes fear in the hearts of Americans.
It will be available on October 27 of this year for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC. More information on the game can be found on Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus‘s website.
The second big game announced during Bethesda’s E3 press conference is The Evil Within 2. This game is another sequel, this time for The Evil Within. In this game, Sebastian, the protagonist from the last game, will go on a journey back into STEM in order to save his daughter. STEM is a machine created to unify the minds of different people, which resulted in the main mind to take control of the device.
The reveal trailer for the game shows the hellish world the player will be subjected to in The Evil Within 2. Different scenes of almost being able to save Sebastian’s daughter only to be stopped by giant horrific beasts, made from some sort of white goop is shown.
A gameplay trailer is also available on Bethesda’s official YouTube channel, displaying some of the monsters and haunting locations Sebastian will encounter.
It will be released on October 13 of this year on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC. More information on the game is available on The Evil Within 2 official website.
Along with these two games, Doom VFR was announced and Fallout 4 VR was given a release date. There is no release date set for DOOM VFR, but it will be released on PlayStation VR and the HTC Vive.
Players also got to see the gameplay trailer for Fallout 4 VR, where you can also shoot giant nuclear-waste monsters from up close. Also, the German Shepherd that follows you around from the last game, Dogmeat, will still be in this game! Fallout 4 VR will be coming out in October for PC and the HTC Vive.
Bethesda didn’t announce any new IPs, unfortunately. But, stay tuned to Whizord to hear more about what is going on at E3!
