According to the labor union LAB, Spanish workers at a logistics center of the large online retailer Amazon (AMZN.O.) in northern Spain are going to go on strike for three days in advance of Epiphany feast day on January 6, which is the day on which Spanish children receive Christmas gifts.

To demand more excellent salaries, around 160 workers at the Trapagaran center in the Basque nation, located on the border between France and Spain, intend to go on strike on January 3, 4, and 5. Gotzon Mardarats, the LAB union leader who represents the majority of the workers, provided this information.

The center is responsible for delivering packages to the Basque nation and the regions of Burgos and Cantabria.

The pay increases that we want to see are in line with inflation. A gain in pay that is more than the 3% annual increase anticipated until 2025,” Mardarats stated.

In answer to a question posed by Reuters, Amazon stated that the employees working in its Trapagaran center “have competitive wages and benefits.”

Another strike of a similar nature, which started on Saturday at midnight and will continue through Monday, is the one that will take place in January. The union head stated that around ninety percent of the workers at the center walked out, which caused a delay in the delivery of approximately twenty thousand packages.

Numerous children in Spain get presents on the Christian feast day known as Epiphany, which occurs on January 6th rather than on the evening before Christmas Eve.
